Ben Hardy has been cast in upcoming Hollywood blockbuster X-Men: Apocalypse.
The Eastenders star – who filmed his last scenes as Albert Square’s Peter Beale last Friday (February 20) – has landed a “key role” in the upcoming super-hero sequel, Variety reports.
The 24-year-old was first linked to the Bryan Singer-directed movie when he announced he was leaving the BBC One soap in November last year, with rumours circulating that he was in line to play a young Cyclops – though the role has since confirmed to have gone to 18-year-old American Tye Sheridan.
Hardy will join the cast alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult, as well as series newcomer Channing Tatum, who’s landed the role of classic comic book mutant Gambit.
To mourn the loss of Hardy from British primetime screens – and to celebrate the prospect of seeing him fill out that iconic X-Men uniform – here are a few little behind-the-scenes pictures of the former Attitude cover star from his shoot for our Summer 2014 issue…
Hardy was also among the Eastenders cast members who stripped off for a Children in Need charity calendar at the end of last year (November 14) – check out the pictures for yourself here.
X-Men: Apocalypse is set to start filming in April is slated for release on May 27, 2016.
