Ellen DeGeneres denies having a ‘gay agenda’

Ellen DeGeneres has denied having a “gay agenda” in her television career.
The much-loved chatshow host made the remark during a speech at the Television Critics Association this week about her new gay-themed NBC comedy series One Big Happy.
“It’s not like I formed a production company and said, ‘Bring me all your lesbian scripts,'” she said. “Yes, there’s a lesbian character, but it’s a really funny show, and that’s all I wanted to do, is put out really funny material, and smart and thought-provoking.”
“I don’t wake up in the morning and think, ‘I’m a lesbian’,” she added. “I think by the year 2030, we’re going to have an entire lesbian cast with one token heterosexual. We’re not there yet,” she joked.
One Big Happy, which stars Elisa Cuthbert as a lesbian woman who decides to get artificially inseminated, is set to debut on NBC in March. The highly anticipated series will also star British actress Kelly Brook in her first major American television role.
