He also gifted to patrons the Yamaha BC piano, which now joins a number of pianos dotted around the central London station for members of the public to play at their leisure.
“Enjoy this piano, it’s a gift”, he wrote on the top, which accompanied his signature.
Naturally, the news spread like wildfire across social media.

The father of five-year-old Zachary and three-year-old Elijah told Ken Bruce on BBC Radio 2 he would start to take a step away from his music to focus on his family.
“It’s all about the kids now, everything is worked out around half term and when they’re going to be in school, when they’re out of school, and they are the most important things in my life. They take preference over everything,” he said.
“Obviously I work but the work will get less and less and I’ll spend more time with my children growing up. And that’s what I want to do, I’ll gradually phase things out in a few years.”
