Emmerdale’s Danny Miller on how other straight men react to him playing a gay character

Emmerdale‘s Danny Miller has shared the reactions he gets from other straight men for playing a gay character on the hit ITV soap.
The 30-year-old has played Aaron Dingle on and off since 2007 but recently quit to appear on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
Speaking on last night’s episode of the reality show, the star also opened up about the letters he receives from LGBTQs over his role.
” It helped change some perceptions”
Asked by a campmate if he gets “stick” for playing gay, Danny said: “People are always saying it to me when they meet me, they’ll go, instantly if it was a bloke: ‘How do you kiss them men?'”
He continued: “That’s exactly what we’re trying to stop, the stereotype of how do you do that?”

On joining the show 14 years ago, he explained: “There’s obviously gay characters in soap, but in terms of against all stereotypes of a gay man, and it made me think that would be so good.
“At the time, it wasn’t as kind of open and accepted at that time as it is now. I think part of it helped change some perceptions of it really.”
He added: “I’ve had loads of fan letters and stuff that have come through at work that said: ‘You helped me come out, you helped me deal with my sexuality.’ You think: “Wow”.’
Danny’s other screen roles include TV shows Scott & Bailey and Jamaica Inn and the film Cruel Summer.
