Exclusive | Netflix release interview with trans actor Ian Alexander ahead of ‘The OA Part II’

The second part of the Netflix series hits the streaming giant today (March 22)

Netflix has released an interview with trans actor Ian Alexander who stars in the sci-fi series The OA.

In the first season of the ‘mind-bending’ show was first released on the streaming site back in 2016 and follows Prairie Johnson who resurfaces after having been missing for seven years.

Now calling herself “The OA”, she now can see, despite having been blind before her disappearance.

Part II is set to launch on the streaming giant today (March 22) and introduces Karim Washington, a private detective who is tasked to find a missing teenager. His path crosses with OA and they try and solve the disappearance.

In the first dimension, BBA, Angie and the boys find themselves on a journey to understand the truth behind OA’s story and the realities she has described.

The series – which is produced by Michael Sugar and Brad Pitt – stars a stellar cast including Jason Isaacs, Emory Cohen, Patrick Gibson, Phyllis Smith, Brendan Meyer, Brandon Perea and Sharon van Etten.

Other cast members including Kingsley Ben-Adir, Chloe Levine, Paz Vega, Irene Jacob and Riz Ahmed.

And now, ahead of the second season, Ian’s shares his experience portraying Buck Vu through a different dimension in The OA Part II.

During the interview, Ian opens up about their journey about their gender identity and explains how important it is to have the trans community represented on screen.

“It’s important people see themselves represented on screen. I think it really means a lot to other young trans men who are trying to find someone to look up to and can relate to and just maybe feel like their not as alone,” he says.
