Exclusive | Watch the first UK trailer for romantic gay drama ‘Holding The Man’
By Ben Kelly
Attitude is thrilled to exclusively unveil the first UK trailer for romantic gay drama Holding The Man.
The eagerly-anticipated movie is an adaptation of the 1995 memoir of the same name by author Timothy Conigrave, which tells the story of his lifelong relationship with childhood sweetheart John Caleo.
The pair meet during their teen years at an all boys school, where they quickly fall in love. Throughout the next 15 years they face everything together: the discrimination, the dramas, the temptations, the jealousies, and the laughs. But a tragedy is looming, and it threatens to rip them both apart, with horrendous consequences.
The film stars two young Australian actors Ryan Corr and Craig Stott in the lead roles, and has already been hugely successful Down Under and at various film festivals – including the Melbourne International Film Festival, where it was honoured with the Peoples Choice Award for Best Narrative.
Conigrave himself passed away before the book was released, and so never got to see it become a best-seller and gay classic. It was also adapted into an award-winning play by Tommy Murphy.
The film also has a celebrity fan in Sam Smith, who opened up about his love of the story last summer, admitting it “changed his life.”
Holding The Man hits UK cinemas on June 3, and will screen as part of the POUTfest tour this summer.
