Fashion designer Oscar de la Renta dies, aged 82

Iconic fashion designer Oscar de la Renta has died at the age of 82.
He passed away at his home in Kent, Connecticut, on Monday (October 20), following a long battle with cancer.
His wife, Annette de la Renta, has confirmed that he died from complications stemming from his ongoing condition.
de la Renta was born in the Dominican Republic, and was raised in Spain, before living his adult life in the US.
In the early years of his fashion career, he worked alongside the likes of Cristobal Balenciaga and Elizabeth Arden. He broke away to establish his own New York City-based label in 1965.
The 82-year-old has dressed stars including Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton and Penelope Cruz during his long career, and most recently designed the wedding dress of George Clooney’s bride Amal Alamuddin.
de la Renta is survived by his wife, Annette, and his son Moises, as well as his three stepchildren and nine step-grandchildren.
