Fox News host: ‘Beyoncé is harming children’
By Josh Haggis
Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly has claimed that Beyoncé’s behaviour is “harming” children in underprivileged US communities.
The right-wing TV host and political commentator, 64, even suggested that the singer is partly responsible for high teenage pregnancy rates in the US.
On a recent episode of his US cable news show The O’Reilly Factor, he said of the singer: “The ’empowering’ stuff is just so much garbage. Empowering what? She sings songs.”
He then discussed how he thinks Beyoncé’s influence is detrimental to those who potentially look up to her her as a role model.
“[There are] cultural deficits… not only [in] black precincts, but in poor, white precincts and Hispanic precincts with unsupervised children… Beyoncé is part of that problem,” O’Reilly said.
“Beyoncé knows that young girls [are] getting pregnant in the African-American community, and now it’s about 70% [who are] out of wedlock. She should be smart enough to know what she is doing now is harming some children.”
Earlier this month (April), Beyoncé and Jay Z announced that they will co-headline a US stadium tour this summer.
The couple will play 16 shows across North America in June, July and August as part of their ‘On The Run’ tour.
