‘Friends’ star David Schwimmer joins the cast of ‘Will & Grace’
Schwimmer will be starring in five episodes of the upcoming season.
Friends star David Schwimmer is set to guest star in the upcoming season of Will & Grace.
The 51-year-old actor will be joining the cast of the hit NBC show for a five-episode arc in the upcoming tenth season.
According to Deadline, Schwimmer’s character will be a potential love interest for Grace, played by Debra Messing, though further details are being kept secret.
The news comes after Chelsea Handler was cast as Donna Zimmer, a “high-powered” lesbian and one of Grace’s clients who will start dating Grace’s sister Janet, played by Mary McCormack, in the show.
In an interview with Deadline earlier this year, co-creator Max Mutchnick said they’re “trying to open up the series” with the new season.
“Last year was about coming back and seeing how the audience was going to respond, and they embraced the show, and that was thrilling. Now, we need to move forward.”
He revealed that they’re going to make an effort to grow the characters, saying: “Because they are, like us, 11 years older, and now we should be talking about some of the issues that these characters would have, at the ages that they’re all at, respectively.”
Season 10 of Will & Grace will premiere on October 4 in the US on NBC. Channel 5 airs the show in the UK, but it’s unknown when the new season will premiere.
