Gay and bisexual characters confirmed for Dishonored 2
The sequel to 2012 action-adventure video game Dishonoured will include gay and bisexual characters, it has been announced.
Co-creative director of the game, Harvey Smith, confirmed the news in an interview with Game Informer ahead of the game’s release on November 11.
“We wanted to have more representation this time. We’ve tried to put more people into key roles who are people of colour and to be more reflective of how the world works and to be less homogeneous,” he said.”
Harvey continued: “We have at least a few characters who, if you dig into them, you realise that they’re not straight. That said it’s a quick paced action game or a slow paced stealth game where those things are secondary. When we handle something like that, we’d like to have it in the world, and not draw a big sign around it that says, ‘this guy is gay’.”
“There is a gay character, there’s a bi character. We’re better in representation in that sense,” he finished.
The original Dishonoured game was praised for having a non-sexualised female as the main characters. Fans were also happy that the lead role was a short-haired, tough female.
