Gay couple marry after meeting on Chatroulette

By Sam Rigby

A gay couple who met on Chatroulette back in 2010 have married.

Jorge Barrios Jimenez and Jeffrey Cucinotta were randomly paired up on the social networking site, and struck up a friendship after learning that they both studied geography.

During their first conversation, Jeffrey refused to turn his webcam on as he didn’t want to reveal his identity to someone he had never met.

Jorge was studying in Mexico City, while Jeffrey lived in New Jersey. They kept in touch via Facebook until they met in Mexico, when Jeffrey visited on a volunteer trip the following summer.

They said that they “immediately clicked” when they met at the airport, but described the experience as “an extreme blind date, in reverse”.

The couple wed in Jeffrey’s hometown of Westampton, New Jersey, last month, following the recent legalisation of same-sex marriage in the state.

Jorge is still studying in Mexico City, meaning that they are still maintaining a long distance relationship. They told BuzzFeed that it is difficult “having separate lives but then a life together, and finding a way to balance the two different lives”.

The couple have a dog called Paloma, who they adopted after finding her on the streets of Mexico City.
