A man involved in last week’s Capitol riots has spoken out to say he is fearing for his life.
Speaking to The OCR, Kristopher Dreww said he has received death threats from supporters and detractors of US President Trump after posting a video in which he said “we proudly took back our Capitol.”
Violent scenes on 6 January 2021 in Washington DC followed a speech by Trump in which he encouraged supporters to overturn his defeat by Joe Biden in last November’s presidential election. Five are dead, including one police officer.
After the interruption, US Congress certified Democrat Biden’s victory; he will now be sworn in on 20 January.
“I’m scared”
“I’m scared,” hairdresser Dreww told the publication while choking back tears. “I fear for my life.”
The beauty salon owner – who is gay, according to The Advocate – initially said in a vlog posted last week: “I just got back from storming the Capitol. It was successful. For all you bitches on Facebook going crazy talking about it was [left-wing protest movement] Antifa, and saying it wasn’t us, it was us. We proudly took back our Capitol.

“I’m only at the hotel to get some gear on, I’m going back, baby. They brought the National Guard out for us. We had the f***ing cops running from us. Not because they are bitches but because they are smart. We did it. God it’s so exhilarating!”
However, in yesterday’s interview the 32-year-old said he was speaking collectively and watched the chaos from afar.

“I do regret not doing my research and not knowing what people were in there,” he said. “I am proud we took back our house, but I thought we took it back peacefully.”
According to The OCR, Dreww, who is known on social media and YouTube as the Adorable Deplorable, drove 2,700 miles from Huntington Beach, California to Washington for the protests.
“I never went inside the Capitol,” he said. “I am a waste of time [for authorities to investigate], but there are other people who did terrible things and should be arrested. I didn’t go to Washington for Donald Trump. I went there for everyone’s vote to count.”
