Gloria Estefan musical ‘On Your Feet’ coming to Broadway

A musical based on the life of Gloria Estefan and her husband Emilio is coming to Broadway next year.
Titled On Your Feet, the musical will follow the Estefans’ journey from humble beginnings in Cuba to global pop success with their band Miami Sound Machine, before Gloria Estefan went solo and became one of the world’s best-selling artists of all-time with estimated total record sales of around 90m.
The musical will be directed by Jerry Mitchell, who also helmed Cyndi Lauper’s Tony Award-winning musical Kinky Boots, and will premiere in Chicago next summer (2015) before transferring to Broadway the following autumn.
All of Estefans’ best-loved hits including Dr Beat, Rhythm Is Gonna Get You, Anything for You, Conga and 1,2,3 are set to feature in the musical.
Gloria Estefan released her most recent album, a collection of traditional pop covers called The Standards, last September. In 2011 she teamed up with Pharrell Williams for a dance-pop album called Miss Little Havana – listen to the title track below.
