‘Gogglebox’, Corrie, ‘Broadchurch’ win at BAFTA TV Awards

, Coronation Street and Broadchurch were among the winners at the BAFTA TV Awards tonight (May 18).
Gogglebox picked up the prize for Reality & Constructed Factual, fending off competition from The Big Reunion and Dragons’ Den, while Coronation Street beat EastEnders, Casualty and Holby City to the Soap & Continuing Drama award.
Broadchurch went home with three awards: Drama Series, Leading Actress for Olivia Colman and Supporting Actor for David Bradley.
Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway took home two prizes, for Best Entertainment Performance and Best Entertainment Programme, and The IT Crowd collected two comedy acting trophies for its stars Richard Ayoade and Katherine Parkinson.
Other shows to be lauded at the annual TV awards, which were hosted by Graham Norton at the London Palladium, included Him & Her: The Wedding, Breaking Bad and Doctor Who: Day of the Doctor.
Meanwhile, Cilla Black was given a Special Award for her career in broadcasting, which she collected from her good friend Paul O’Grady.
Julie Walters received the prestigious Academy Fellowship in recognition of her four-decade acting career, which was presented to her by friend and frequent co-star Celia Imrie.
