Grammys 2016 round-up: Taylor Swift takes swipe at Kanye after historic awards win
It really was Taylor Swift’s night last night at the 58th Grammy Awards in LA. She became the first female artist in history to scoop two Grammys for Album of the Year – and she made it clear exactly who was responsible for her success.
Taking to the stage at the Staples Center after her victory, the 26-year-old – who also opened the evening with her 1989 track ‘Out Of The Woods’ – took an apparent swipe at West, who just last week said he propelled “that b*tch” to fame after infamously upstaging her at the 2009 VMAs.
And Tay Tay was having none of that last night.
“As the first woman to win album of the year at the Grammys twice, I want to say to all the young women out there: there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame,” she said.
“But if you just focus on the work, and don’t let those people side-track you, some day when you get where you’re going you will look around and know it was you and the people who love you who put you there, and that will be the greatest feeling in the world.”
Swift was also recognised with a Grammy for best music video for ‘Bad Blood’ alongside rapper Kendrick Lamar, and best pop vocal album for 1989.
