Griffin on seeing Madonna: ‘My inner gay boy took over’
By Sam Rigby

Kathy Griffin has admitted that her “inner gay boy took over” when she encountered Madonna on the red carpet at the Grammys earlier this year.
The comic – who won the prize for Best Comedy Album after five failed attempts – said that she made a fool of herself in front of the Girl Gone World singer.
She went on to the red carpet after winning her Grammy in the non-televised part of the ceremony, and saw Madonna arriving with her entourage.
“I won after being nominated six years in a row and I was not gracious or graceful. I was a fool. Something came over my body where I thought I knew Madonna,” she explained on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
“My inner gay boy took over,” said Griffin, who had planned to share a few words with the pop icon.
However, in her excitement she just shouted: “Fierce! Fierce! Diva! Fierceness!”
Griffin added that one of Madonna’s bodyguards gave her a ‘don’t even think about it’ look when she approached her.
