Ahead of the highly anticipated releases of My Policeman and Don’t Worry Darling, two films that see Harry Styles cement himself as leading man material, the ‘As It Was’ singer has revealed details of his “pre-negotiated” nudity clause and how he tackled shooting intimate scenes.
Styles, 28, appeared on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday (18 May) ahead of his third album release, Harry’s House, to chat about new music and his burgeoning acting career.
Speaking to Stern about the upcoming films, as reported by ET, Styles revealed that he performed sex scenes in both Don’t Worry Darling and My Policeman but only appeared naked in the latter.
“The peen, it was pre-negotiated that that would remain my own.”
“It does feel vulnerable. I’d never kissed anyone on camera before and it felt like giving a part of myself away in some ways,” Styles said.
My Policeman sees Styles star beside Emma Corrin and David Dawson as a policeman who finds himself in a love triangle with his wife and another man.
With Stern asking about full-frontal nudity and his nudity contract negotiations, Styles clarified: “I wasn’t naked in Don’t Worry Darling. I was naked in My Policeman. There’s no peen in the final cut. There’s bum bum. I don’t think the peen was intended to be involved.
“The peen, it was pre-negotiated that that would remain my own.”
It has been previously reported that My Policeman will see Styles perform two sex scenes, one of which is with his character’s love interest, Patrick Hazelwood.
The former One Direction star also revealed a few details about Don’t Worry Darling, a psychological thriller directed by his girlfriend Olivia Wilde that sees Styles play a husband with a disturbing secret opposite Florence Pugh. The trailer features a rather steamy scene of Styles and Pugh getting intimate on a dining table.
Styles described working with Wilde as “a really nice experience,” chalking his comfortability on set down to the gift of “being able to trust your director.”
Speaking about shooting scenes of intimacy, Styles said: “If you remember that the most important thing on the set is the two human beings doing it. If at any point either one of you is uncomfortable, I think having the conversation where it’s like, ‘It doesn’t matter if they’re getting great stuff, if you don’t feel good, you tell me and we’ll stop.’”
Don’t Worry Darling is in UK cinemas 23 September and My Policeman doesn’t yet have a confirmed release date but is expected in autumn 2022.
