Heartstopper cast confirm season two has entered production: ‘We’re back’
Following the success of Heartstopper's first season, seasons two and three were given the green light in May.
The cast of Heartstopper has confirmed that filming for season two has begun production and we are over the moon at the news!
Ever since the series first landed on Netflix in April it has been a stomper of a success, winning praise and acclaim the world over. Unsurprisingly, it was announced only a few weeks after it launched that seasons two and three had been greenlit by the streaming service.
In the short reel posted to Netflix UK and the Heartstopper Instagram accounts the cast can be seen reuniting with another and embracing each other.

Kit Connor, Joe Locke, Yasmin Finney, Will Gao, Tobie Donovan, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Sebastian Croft, Rhea Norwood, and Jenny Walser are all seen gathered and reading through scripts.
Also seen are newcomers Leila Khan as Sahar Zahid, a Higgs school student; Jack Barton as David Nelson, Nick’s older brother; Bradley Riches as James McEwan, a Truham school student; and Nima Taleghani as Mr. Farouk, a Truham school teacher.
Leila Khan was offered the role of Sahar (her first role) after a nationwide casting call. Meanwhile, Bradley Riches played a student in the first season but returns as James.
Connor shared the reel to his story adding, “We’re back”.
The video mostly consists of the cast waving and saying ‘Hi!’ at the camera and b-roll of a read-through. The video ends with Kit Connor (Nick Nelson) saying ‘Bonjour’ seemingly referencing the school trip some of the characters take to France.
Speaking before the announcement that the show had been renewed for two more seasons Joe Locke, who plays Charlie Spring, said he was excited to develop Nick and Charlie’s relationship.
He added to British GQ in April: “In the next graphic novel, Charlie struggles with his mental health and I’d love to explore that more. I think a lot of mental health and eating disorder shows tackle mental health in a way that is hard-hitting and really dark, but I’d love to come at these issues from a lighter place.
Simialry, Connor, who plays Nick Nelson, told The Radio Times after the renewal announcement that he’d like to see “the strengthening of Nick and Charlie’s relationship”.
He continued: “In Season 1, we very much see the young love and the beginnings of their relationship. And I think that it would be lovely, you know – not just to act – also just to see, as well, their relationship just, sort of, get stronger and blossom.”
The Attitude September/October issue is out now.
