Netflix has released its first official teaser trailer for the upcoming LGBTQ series, Heartstopper, which lands on the streaming service on 22 April 2022.
Based on the popular webcomic by Alice Oseman, Heartstopper follows secondary school classmates Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson as their friendship grows into something quite unexpected.
The TV adaptation was first announced last year, with original author Alice Oseman brought on to adapt the eight episodes herself.
Based on the trailer, we’re getting a faithful adaptation of the source material complete with Alice Oseman-esque illustrations and animations. Fans will no doubt love the recreation of entire panels on their screens too as can be seen in several shots.
The cast features Joe Locke as Charlie Spring, Kit Connor as Nick Nelson, Yasmin Finney as Elle Argent, William Gao as Tao Xu, Corinna Brown, and Kizzy Edgell as Tara Jones and Darcy Olsson respectively. Cormac Hyde-Corrin, Sebastian Croft, Tobie Donovan, and Rhea Norwood join them.
The series is produced for Netflix by SeeSaw Films with Patrick Walters serving as Executive Producer and is directed by Euros Lyn (Doctor Who)
Heartstopper will begin streaming on Netflix from 22 April 2022.
