The cast of Heartstopper certainly made their mark at this year’s Pride in London.
During the march, where the cast also danced in front of anti-gay protestors, two of the show’s stars, Kit Connor, 18, and Sebastian Croft, 20, spoke of their “honour” at taking part in the 50th-anniversary celebrations, as well as the importance of Pride and Heartstopper’s impact.

In a clip shared online, Connor remarks it is “one of the biggest honours” for him to attend Pride in London, especially after making Heartstopper.
“It’s amazing it’s been going fifty years but also sad it’s only been fifty,” Croft adds. “I’m looking forward to the next fifty and more shows like Heartstopper making the difference to Pride.”
When asked about how essential they view Pride to be for the LGBTQ+ community, Croft emphasises the importance of collective Pride, especially for those who are not yet publicly out.
“Everyone who goes out and wears a rainbow shows the people around them that they would be proud of them, and that’s such a powerful thing,” the actor says.
Connor notes that a few people approached the cast at the march and the fan reaction to Heartstopper has been “amazing” with people sharing how much the show means to them.
“It’s the most emotional thing I’ve ever had in my career,” Connor adds.
Croft elaborates: “It’s not just ‘Oh, I like the show.’ For so many people it’s a part of their journey, people have used the show to come out.… We’re very proud to be a part of it.”
uhhh I was videoing and screaming at them but please don’t be mistaken, it wasn’t ’Kit Connor and the rest of the cast’, it was @joelocke03 and @SebastianCroft front and centre. Please give them the credit for doing something so powerful. https://t.co/SjvJFCHwKD

The Heartstopper crew trended online during the march for dancing defiantly in front of anti-gay protesters.
“uhhh I was videoing and screaming at them but please don’t be mistaken, it wasn’t ’Kit Connor and the rest of the cast’, it was @joelocke03 and @SebastianCroft front and centre. Please give them the credit for doing something so powerful,” tweeted Connor to correct a news outlet reporting on the event.
Connor and Croft were joined at Pride in London by fellow Heartstopper cast-mates Joe Locke (who plays lead Charlie Spring) Tobie Donovan (Isaac Henderson), Corrina Brown (Tara Jones), Kizzy Edgell (Darcy Olsson), Rhea Norwood (Imogen Heaney) and Jenny Walser (Tori Spring).
