The world’s most blessed and highly-favoured queen, Heidi N Closet, has ensured her debut single ‘GAP’ has arrived with a bang after enlisting a flock of legendary Drag Race sisters to appear in the bold and brilliant new video.
‘GAP’, a Covid-themed parody of Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s censor-baiting single ‘WAP’, sees season 12 star Heidi encouraging everyone to ‘Get Away Please’ and keep a safe distance amid the coronavirus pandemic.
As well as featuring incredible rap verses from fellow season 12 queen Widow Von’Du, ‘GAP’ also comes complete with an fierce AF, ‘WAP’-inspired video featuring Drag Race icons including Jaida Essence Hall, Manila Luzon and Brooke Lynn Hytes, as well as Canada’s Drag Race winner Priyanka.
Speaking exclusively to Attitude and Drag Race UK star Crystal, reigning Miss Congeniality Heidi says of the track: “It’s so easy that you can become preachy with that we shouldn’t be doing during Covid right now, and I feel like what I’m going with GAP is getting a message across to people without being reprimanding or scolding or anything.
“The lyrics are fun, the video is fun, it’s all really fun but it still has a message to it.
Asked what she thinks Cardi and Megan will make of the song, 26-year-old Heidi quips: “They’d be like ‘Oh my Gosh, y’all did it just as well – if not better – than we did. You’re amazing’
“And a future collaboration, that’s what we’re looking for!”
During our exclusive chat with Heidi, which you can watch above, the season 12 star and fan favourite gives her thoughts on the current casts of Drag Race UK series two and Drag Race season 13, reveals what she made of RuPaul’s H&M meltdown, and reflects on the difficultes faced on the runway by queens with less access to money.
