Homophobes weren’t happy about the gay scenes on Coronation Street last night
By Will Stroude
Last night’s episode of Coronation Street seems to have ruffled a few feathers when Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) and Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) locked lips in a passionate hotel smooch.
That’s right, viewers who probably sat merrily through Richard Hillman bludgeon Maxine Peacock to death a few years back, don’t think two grown men kissing is appropriate.
If you didn’t watch last night’s episode, here are some images from the offending scene.
Why… why are they looking at each other like that?
They’re kissing? Two men? An abomination!
Many were dismayed to see something as truly shocking as adults kissing on a hotel bed. Maybe they were blithely unaware that Coronation Street’s creator, Tony Warren, is gay. Or maybe they don’t mind when LGBT people are making fun soaps for them to watch, but showing actual gay people doing actual gay things is just a step too far.

@itvcorrie Homosexual scenes in #Corrie tonight were sickening. Most now tolerate this practice but we don't need it rammed down our throats

It must be tough, having a sexuality that’s different to your own shown across the media. Luckily for us, we’ve never had to deal with such a heinous injustice…
#corrie let's hope they finish during the adverts! No more gay action please!

Not sure we need the full steamy gay scenes this early #Corrie

Twitter user @DoverMarie won the award for most original homophobic complaint of the night, with this scorching take:
However, it a delicious display of gay power, LGBT fans of the show hit back at the bigots by sprinkling a little man-on-man action all over their Twitter pages (most of which we are categorically not allowed to publish). Now that’s our kind of protest!

Well, we tried to warn you that #lovewins!
After the scenes aired, Daniel Brocklebank took to Twitter to hit back at homophobes, and thank more open-minded fans for their support.
So many lovely, supportive & hilarious tweets about tonight's @itvcorrie!
Plus only a few from the homophobes! Maybe we're winning a little.— Daniel Brocklebank (@Dan_Brocklebank) September 5, 2016
Gays 1 – Bigots 0.
