Idina Menzel reacts to campaign to give Elsa a girlfriend in Frozen 2
Fans of Disney have expressed their desire for Elsa to have a female love interest in the upcoming sequel to Frozen, in the form of a social media campaign named ‘#GiveElsaAGirlfriend’ – and now the voice of Elsa, actress Idina Menzel, has voiced her support for the cause.
Speaking at last night’s (May 22) Billboard Music Awards, the 44-year-old Broadway star told reporters: “I think it’s great. Disney’s just gotta contend with that. I’ll let them figure that out. No matter what, Elsa changed my life.”
If Elsa was to be given a female love interest in Frozen 2, it would make her Disney’s first out gay character in one of their animated films.
#GiveElsaAGirlfriend so little kids will know that girls loving girls is normal even when their parents teach them otherwise.

Menzel will once again voice Queen Elsa in Frozen 2, whilst Kristen Bell and Josh Gad will both return as Princess Anna and the snowman Olaf respectively. Directors Chris Buck and Jennifer, who wrote the script for the 2013 movie, will also return.
