New Britney music has been in demand for a while, with fans being tied over only by her collaboration with Australian rapper Iggy Azalea on ‘Pretty Girls’ last year, which received mixed reviews, and an incredible cover of Suzanne Vega’s ‘Tom’s Diner’ on Giorgio Moroder’s long-awaited comeback album Déjà Vu.
Larry Rudolph, the singer’s personal manager, has teased the new direction of the new record.
He said to the Las Vegas Sun: ‘The last few albums have been pretty straightforward pop. This is almost like if you can imagine Britney meets The Weeknd. It’s got a really interesting vibe, it’s a lot of really cool stuff.’
Reviews for Spears’ residency in Las Vegas for her Piece of Me Tour have been increasingly positive, with music critics stating that the 34-year-old pop princess is going from strength to strength on stage with a newly-discovered confidence. Here’s hoping that signals a return to the top of the pop tree when her new musical output is finally released.
