Supermodel of the world and drag supremo RuPaul is being tipped to star in the upcoming 18th season of Strictly Come Dancing.
The show is a ratings juggernaut for the BBC every autumn, and last year saw RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage take to the stage with professional partner Giovanni Pernice.
The odds of the 59-year-old drag queen signing up to the show are currently 5/1 with bookmakers Ladbrokes, after an insider told the The Sun that two “huge stars” are being lined up to take part.
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK debuted on the BBC last October, and is set to return for a second season this year – though filming has been halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Producers are hoping the show will be unaffected by the pandemic, and RuPaul’s appearance on Strictly could be a big publicity boost to Drag Race UK if season two airs as planned.
Michelle Visage – RuPaul’s right-hand woman and best Judy – was a hit with viewers and judges on Strictly last year, and chose to perform a vogue dance for the first time in the show’s history.
In one episode during Visage’s run, RuPaul popped into one of her rehearsals to show his support. Fellow Drag Race judge Carson Kressley took part in US competition Dancing With The Stars in 2011.
RuPaul himself famously doesn’t often do drag outside of his judging looks for RuPaul’s Drag Race, so if he does sign up, it’ll be fascinating to see which version of himself he serves up for viewers.
