Jake Borelli reconnects with his high school bully in first trailer for gay rom-com ‘The Thing About Harry’

Sparks fly between the 'Grey's Anatomy' star and newcomer Niko Terho in Freeform's Valentine's Day love-fest.

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, we’re in the mood for some gooey movies – and new rom-com The Thing About Harry looks set to fill the big gay gap in the market.

The upcoming drama – which will air in the US on Freeform on 15 February – stars Grey’s Anatomy‘s Jake Borelli as an unlucky-in-love gay guy Sam, who reconnects with his former high school bully (played by newcomer Niko Terho) Harry, who has since come out as gay himself.

After a preview clip was released last week, we’ve got our first look at the full-length trailer – and it’s already giving us all the feels.

Soundtracked by indie pop singer Morgxn’s cover of Judy Garland’s ‘I’m Just Wild About Harry’, the trailer sees Sam fighting his feelings as he finds himself drawn to the man who once made his life a misery.

The Thing About Harry also stars Queer Eye’s Karamo Brown and The Fosters’ Peter Paige, who also co-wrote and directed the film.

Borelli, who joined the cast of Grey’s in 2017 as Dr. Levi Schmitt, came out publicly as gay in 2018 to coincide with the character’s own coming out on the the long-running medical drama.

Speaking to Attitude soon after, the 28-year-old actor said he’d made the decision to be open about his sexuality after feeling pressured by the industry not to discuss it.

“I think the go-to line over the past few decades has been ‘Let’s not talk about sexuality because it can affect your career poorly'”, Borelli told us at the time.

“That was something I’d certainly heard, and it was something that was certainly scary, but I think I’ve reached a point in my life where my own personal growth and happiness need to take the driver’s seat right now.

He continued: “Right now I’m just focused on being honest and authentic and I truly hope that is the direction that the business is moving in, and the audience.

“Hopefully as a society we can include people of all different types and understand that acting is acting and someone’s sexuality doesn’t change that.

The Thing About Harry airs in the US on Saturday 15 February at 8/7c on Freeform.
