Jake Gyllenhaal transforms himself for new film role

Jake Gyllenhaal has revealed a dramatic new look for his latest film Southpaw.

The actor has gained 15-pounds of muscle to play the role of boxer Billy ‘The Great’ Hope in the forthcoming drama, which will follow his character as he tries to regain control of his life after experiencing a personal tragedy.

“Jake is going to change how people see him. I had him training twice a day in the boxing ring, seven days a week,” director Antoine Fuqua told Deadline.

Gyllenhaal recently spoke about his role in Oscar-winning film Brokeback Mountain, saying that it showed him “how important” movies can be. Find out more here.
