Jamie Lee Curtis and her daughter Judy have opened up about Judy’s transition in a new interview.
Halloween Kills star Jamie Lee also spoke to the new issue of People about the importance of learning new terminology, after Ruby came out as trans last year.
“I’m a grateful student,” Jamie Lee, 62, told the publication’s latest issue. “It’s learning new terminology and words.
“I am new at it. I am not someone who is pretending to know much about it. And I’m going to blow it, I’m going to make mistakes. I would like to try to avoid making big mistakes.”
“I wasn’t worried”
Ruby, a video editor, added of coming out to her family: “It was scary – just the sheer fact of telling them something about me they didn’t know.
“It was intimidating — but I wasn’t worried. They had been so accepting of me my entire life.”
Jamie Lee – also known for films like Freaky Friday and True Lies – added: “I called her immediately. Needless to say there were some tears involved.”
The film veteran is known for her outspoken support of LGBTQ people.
In 2019, she addressed the matter of outing gay politicians, telling PrideSource: “I don’t think it’s anybody’s business what people’s sexuality is, to be perfectly honest. I find it like a reverse discrimination.
“People’s private lives are their private lives and whether I’ve ever kissed a girl – have not – is irrelevant to whatever advocacy I participate in.
“[Unless] you legislate anti-gay legislation but are gay. I fully accept outing those people for the hypocrisy.”
