Jessie J to headline London Girl Effect festival
By Will Stroude
Jessie J has been announced as the headline act for London’s Girl Effect Live festival.
The one-day festival has been organised by Girl Effect to celebrate the role of women in breaking the cycle of global poverty, and takes place on London’s Brick Lane next Sunday (July 20) – just two days before the world’s first ever ‘Girl Summit’.
“Living in the UK, we’re fortunate that we have the opportunity to strive for and fulfill our potential, but this isn’t the case for many girls living in poverty,” Jessie J said.
“I am involved in Girl Effect Live because I want to take a stand with other girls in the UK to inspire, recognise and celebrate the amazing potential of girls everywhere,” she added.
Jessie J recently announced that she will premiere her new single Bang Bang – a collaboration with US stars Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj – on July 29. Click here to listen to a teaser clip.
Girl Effect Live’s daytime event will be held at Vibe Bar from 1pm-6pm and features comedy routines from the likes of Martin and Ava Vidal. Jessie J will headline the evening event, which takes place at Village Underground and also features British singer-songwriter Sasha Keable, who supported Katy B on tour earlier this year.
The daytime event is free, but the evening event is balloted, with tickets costing £10. For more information visit girleffectlive.com.
