JoJo stuns in video for long-awaited comeback single ‘When Love Hurts’
By Will Stroude
As former teen sensation JoJo continues on the comeback trail, she’s inching ever-closer to reclaiming her rightful place at pop’s top table.
The 24-year-old – who first shot to fame in 2004 aged just 13 with her hit debut single Leave (Get Out) and remains the youngest artist in history to top the Billboard Hot 100 – has unveiled the video for comeback single When Love Hurts, in which she proves that her years in legal limbo haven’t done anything to dent her star power.
The Too Little Too Late singer looks every bit the pop princess as she sweeps around an abandoned warehouse with a contemporary dance troupe while belting out the club-ready number.
When Love Hurts is just one of the trio of comeback singles – or ‘tringle’ – JoJo released at the end of last month as part of her grand plan to make up for lost time. You can listen to those Mariah-esque pipes get a full work-out on stirring mid-tempo ballads Say Love and Save My Soul here.
After winning her long-running legal battle to be released from former label Blackground back in 2013, the star signed a new deal with Atlantic Records at the start of 2014 and has been working on her third studio album ever since.
Pharrell Williams, MNEK, Sam Smith and Mac Miller have all rumoured to have contributed the the record, which is slated for release in 2016. Safe to say we’re excited to see what Miss Joanna Levesque has in store for us…
