Kavana teases tell-all memoir: ‘Stars should be afraid!’
Pop star and Celebrity Big Brother contestant Anthony Kavanagh has revealed he is to write a ‘warts and all’ memoir detailing all the wild shenanigans that went on back in his pop heyday.
The handsome star, who has previously spoken about his problems with drugs and booze, says his tome will lift the lid on all the wild antics of the outwardly innocent 90’s pop scene.
‘I am very excited about it. It’s more of a memoir, I’ll save the autobiography for when I’m older. It’ll be warts and recalls what was happening back in the pop industry back in the 90s and when I went to live in Hollywood. There are some really outrageous stories that most people wouldn’t know about. Yes, people should be afraid…very afraid,” he teases.
But before the book hits the shelves, Anthony is set to marry his film producer boyfriend Neil Ely later in the year. Ely is presenting his short film Mirrors at the BFI Flare LGBT Festival this week – and it even features Kavana in a rather unlikely cameo as a drag queen. We have a chat to the couple about their wedding plans and what it was like to work together:
Kav and Neil, what did the marriage law change mean to you when it came to pass last year?
Kav: It was great news as we are now engaged! It was about time that they changed the law. Too bloody right!
Neil: It’s odd to think that it was only 2014 that the law was changed. I think it brought a sense of equality for people, and it was about time.
Do you think the old perception from some people that gay relationships are dysfunctional have changed?
Neil: they should look in the mirrors! Most people are dysfunctional, usually the ones I like the most (coughs suggestively).
Kav: Some people are stuck in the past, it’s 2015. By the way, that cough didn’t go unnoticed!
So boys, what kind of wedding do you have planned?
Kav: A social club!
Neil: A castle!
Kav: Just Lots of fun! A chilled day. Neil’s holding out for Madonna as the wedding singer.
Neil: If not, Anthony’s gonna drag up again.
Neil Ely’s short film Mirrors is being shown as part of the BFI Flare LGBT Festival on March 20 at 4pm and March 21 at 11.50am.
