After releasing a string of empowering singles over the last few years, Keiynan Lonsdale has finally announced the release of his debut album.
The star of Love, Simon and TV’s The Flash took to social media on Thursday (14 May) to reveal that his first full-length LP, Rainbow Boy, will be out on 29 May.
Sharing the floral-themed artwork for the record on Instagram and Twitter, Lonsdale wrote: “Can’t believe I’m saying this.. My debut album ‘RAINBOW BOY’ will be released around the world – May 29th.”
He added: “It’s all L.O.V.E. baby.”
The announcement comes just three weeks after Lonsdale – who came out publicly in 2017 but chooses not to label his sexuality – released his most recent track; an uplifting funky kiss-off to homophobia called ‘Gay Street Fighter’.
The Australian star’s sexual identity has formed an integral part of his musical output over the last few years, with other tracks including 2018’s ‘Kiss the Boy’ and last year’s ‘Rainbow Dragon’.
Lonsdale has previously opened up about the pressure to conform faced by men when it comes to sexual and gender expression.
In a heartfelt post on social media last year, he wrote: “I think man is one of the most fearful, scared and insecure creatures that have ever existed, and that’s because of the pressure each and every single boy has had placed on them about what it means to be a man.”
He added: “My personal belief is that a lot of the pain in the world has come from that. But it is changing and that’s inspiring.”
Keiynan Lonsdale releases Rainbow Boy on 29 May.
