Kim Catrall has joined the upcoming Queer As Folk reboot from Peacock.
The Sex and the City icon has landed a recurring role on the New Orleans-set show as ‘a martini-soaked, high society Southern debutante with trailer park roots,’ according to Deadline.
The Golden Globe-winner – currently shooting Hulu’s How I Met Your Father (a follow-up to How I Met Your Mother) – notably passed on the upcoming SATC reboot And Just Like That…
“Ferociously 2022”
Last month, Russell T Davies – writer of the original Queer As Folk series, which launched on Channel 4 in 1998 – teased the new version in an interview with Attitude.
Speaking to Attitude at the 2021 Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards, powered by Jaguar, RTD – an exec producer on the show – said: “They send me very nice emails, the cast say hello to me on Instagram, but that’s it… That’s the extent of my involvement. I’ve read it – it’s much more modern, it’s ferociously 2022. It’s got much more [of] today’s issues in it, trans characters, diverse characters. It’s really, really thrilling and I’m excited.”
According to Variety, the newest version will ‘chronicle a diverse group of friends in New Orleans, whose lives are transformed in the aftermath of a tragedy.’
