Kitty Brucknell: ‘X Factor’ is bullying for entertainment’
By Will Stroude
Former X Factor contestant Kitty Brucknell has hit out against the show, saying it has descended into “bullying on television for entertainment.”
Speaking to Attitude’s special edition teen magazine aTEEN, the singer says that the reality show has changed for the worse since she finished seventh on the 2011 series.
“It’s changed in a really negative way,” the 30-year-old says. “I want to watch something positive – I don’t want to watch a show that takes delight in crushing peoples’ dreams because it’s like bullying on television for entertainment.
“In the last few years they’ve tended to go ‘lets put this act in because everyone will hate them.’ That’s not fair,” she adds.
“Even when they had Jedward on it they didn’t do it because they’d annoy anybody. They did it because they were fun and great entertainment and something different.”
