Lady Gaga and Sam Smith to perform at Oscars 2016
Lady Gaga and Sam Smith will lip sync for their life (well sort of) in a fight to scoop ‘Best Original Song’ at this month’s Oscars.
Last month it was revealed both artists were in the running for Academy Award, after receiving nominations for ‘Til It Happens to You’ from The Hunting Ground and ‘Writing’s on the Wall’ from Spectre respectively.
Amid the outrage surrounding the Oscars diversity debate, and the competitive nature of Awards season in its own right, both Gaga and Smith are now essentially facing off against each other as it has been announced they’re to both perform during the ceremony.
They will join artists Pharrell Williams and The Weeknd on stage, alongside presenters Whoopi Goldberg, Tina Fey and Ryan Gosling.

“Each of these artists brings a wonderfully distinctive element to the Oscars stage,” said Oscars producers Reginald Hill and David Hudlin.
“Together they represent the many thrilling ways stories can be shared about the human experience, and we’re honored they will be part of the celebration.”
Hosted by Chris Rock, the 88th Oscars will be held on Sunday, February 28, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood.
