Lady Gaga just threw some serious shade at Madonna
By Will Stroude
What started off as a harmless promotional interview for Lady Gaga’s new album Joanne – out today (October 21) – took a turn for the shady when the singer was once again compared to the Queen of Pop, Madonna.
While appearing on Apple Music’s Beats 1 show, DJ Zane Lowe told Gaga: “There is another artist who has lived a very parallel existence Based on this story, which I’m sure you can relate to.
“You know Madonna tells a very similar story… overprotective father… papa don’t preach’ – you know what I mean?”
Then things got a little awkward. Attempting to set herself apart from Madonna, Gaga responded: “Madonna and I are very different. Just saying. We’re very different.
“I wouldn’t make that comparison at all and I don’t mean to disrespect Madonna, she’s a nice lady, and she’s had a fantastic huge career, biggest pop star of all time.”
A “nice lady”, you say?
She continued, and the shade grew thicker as Gaga seems to suggest that she was more talented than Madge.
“I play a lot of instruments. I write all my own music. I spend hours and hours a day in the studio. I’m a producer. I’m a writer. What I do is different,” she argues.
“There is spontaneity to my work. I allow myself to fail. I allow myself to break. I’m not afraid of my flaws.”
Some fans were pretty unimpressed with the comments, and took to Twitter to take Gaga to task.

Some were quick to point out that Madonna does in fact play instruments too and has had a hand in songwriting.
