Lady Gaga has reaffirmed her place at the top of pop’s totem pole after making history with the soundtrack from A Star Is Born.

After Bradley Cooper’s remake of the romantic musical classic opened to rave reviews earlier this month, the film’s soundtrack topped the album charts on both sides ofthe pond last week, shifting a massive 231,000 equivalent album units in the US alone.

The feat means that Gaga, who co-wrote 13 original songs for the movie, is now the only female artist in the world to score five Number One albums on the US Billboard chart this decade.

The ‘Applause’ singer overtakes Taylor Swift, who she’ed previously tied for the record on four.

A Star Is Born becomes Gaga’s fifth chart-topping album after Born This Way (2011), ArtPop (2013), Cheek to Cheek (2014) and Joanne (2016).

With the 32-year-old’s sixth studio album expected for release some time in 2019, it might not be too long before Mother Monster adds to her historic tally…
