Lady Gaga shares a sneak peek at David Bowie Grammys tribute performance
Just days after her stellar Superbowl rendition of ‘The Star Spangled Banner’, Lady Gaga has swapped the stadium stage for the rehearsal studio as she prepares for her highly anticipated “experimental” tribute to the late David Bowie at the upcoming Grammy Awards.
Now less than a week away, Gaga is working with three-time Grammy winner Nile Rodgers – also a lifetime friend of Bowie – on the performance, which will honour the legacy of the legendary ‘Starman’ singer, who lost his battle with cancer last month at the age of 69.
Gaga credits Bowie as one of her “biggest inspirations”, telling the Hollywood Reporter she “fell in love” with his music while living on New York’s Lower East Side. “I always felt that his glamour was something he was using to express a message to people that was very healing for their souls,” she said.
“He is a true, true artist and I don’t know if I ever went, ‘oh, I’m going to be that way like this,’ or if I arrived upon it slowly, realising it was my calling and that’s what drew me to him.”
For those who cannot wait until Monday night, Gaga has given fans a taster of her performance in a series of images and short videos published to Snapchat and Twitter – while the Grammys have shared an official teaser of the performance, which Gaga is creating in tandem with Intel.
In one of the clips shared on Snapchat, the 29-year-old is shown with a troupe of dancers all dressed in black rehearsal kit, while she also emerges solo from a studio, ripping down a sign banning anyone else from interrupting her.
Gaga has also hinted at some of the costumes we can expect on the evening.

Hosted by LL Cool J, the 58th Annual Grammy Awards will be held at the Los Angeles STAPLES Center on Monday 15 February.
