Lady Gaga, Tony Bennett announce jazz album release date

Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett’s collaborative album is to be released on September 22.
Titled Cheek to Cheek, the album will feature big band-backed duets and solo performances from the Do What U Want singer and Bennett, who have covered classic selections from the Great American Songbook including It Don’t Mean A Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing), Sophisticated Lady and Lush Life.
Describing the collection as an album of jazz classics “with a modern twist”, Gaga said in a press release: “Cheek to Cheek came out of a very organic friendship and relationship that Tony and I have built over the years and it truly was a collaborative effort. It was important to Tony that this was a jazz record. I’ve been singing jazz since I was a child and really wanted to show the authentic side of the genre.”
Bennett added: “Creating this album with Lady Gaga has been a beautiful experience as she is a fantastic singer and I am hoping that all her fans will embrace this music and swing along with it.”
The first single, a cover of Cole Porter’s classic Anything Goes, is now available on iTunes around the world. Watch the video below:
Gaga is currently midway through her ‘ArtRave:The Artpop Ball’ tour, which will call in on the UK and Ireland in October and November.
