Lance Bass: ‘Coming out hurt my career at first’

Lance Bass has revealed that coming out initially had a negative affect on his career.

The ‘N Sync star came out in a cover story for US magazine People in 2006 – and his decision to speak candidly about his sexuality apparently cost him endorsement deals.

“I definitely felt coming out really hurt pretty much all of the products I was working on at the time,” Bass recalled in an interview with Los Angeles-based DJ Valentine, Wenn reports.

“They cancelled a bunch of the stuff… and that really set me back for years… so I had to go back and redevelop tonnes of other stuff for TV and film.”

Bass recently recalled that hiding his sexuality was “depressing”. The 34-year-old announced his engagement to boyfriend Michael Turchin in September of last year.
