Lil Nas X has become the second out gay man to have a diamond-selling record.
After coming out as gay back in June, Lil Nas X has continued to defy odds and his single ‘Old Town Road’ broke the record for the longest running Number One single of all time.
Earlier this year, the rapper took home the Song of the Year VMA alongside collaborator Billy Ray Cyrus.
He also made history after becoming the first openly gay artist to be nominated for a Country Music Award in the Musical Event of the Year category.
And now, according to Billboard, ‘Old Town Road’ has sold 10 million units meaning he just went diamond.
The song is the fastest in history to reach the diamond level of the Billboard charts which includes the likes of Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Call Me Maybe’, Lady Gaga’s ‘Bad Romance’ and Katy Perry’s ‘Firework’.
Not only is that great news for Lil Nas X but he has also become the second out gay man to join the club following the steps of Sir Elton John.
