Lil Nas X critiques top and bottom culture: ‘It’s become a huge form of misogyny’

Lil Nas X has made it clear he’s not a fan of ‘top’ and ‘bottom’ labels when it comes to gay sex.
The star addressed the topic in an Instagram Q&A, which was reposted by the @ttimenetwork account yesterday.
Responding to a fan, the 22-year-old – who has explored themes of gay sex in songs such as ‘Holiday’ and the recent monster hit ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’ – said he’s never been a “bunk bed kinda guy.”

During the Q&A, the ‘Old Town Road’ singer was asked: “Do you prefer to top or bottom?”
In response, Lil Nas said: “I get this question a lot. I’ve never been a bunk bed kinda guy, I like king-sized beds, I like queen-sized beds.

“But for real, all jokes aside, with this top and bottom s**t in the gay community, it has become a huge form of misogyny, and it’s like how you n****s misogynists? You’re all gay, you’re f*****s. We’re all f*****s.”
The star seemingly referenced topping and bottoming in the 2020 single ‘Holiday’, on which he raps: “Ayy, can I pop shit? (pop, pop), I might bottom on the low, but I top shit (but I top shit).”
Lil Nas came out publicly on the last day of Pride Month in 2019, by tweeting about his song ‘c7osure’: “some of y’all already know, some of y’all don’t care, some of y’all not gone fwm no more. but before this month ends i want y’all to listen closely to c7osure.”
‘c7osure’ contains the lyrics: “Ain’t no more actin’, man that forecast say I should just let me grow,” and “this is what I gotta do, can’t be regrettin’ when I’m old.”
In later interviews, the star confirmed he identifies as gay.
