Lilly Wachowski drops out of Sense8 season 2
There’s been some drama behind the scenes of Netflix’s sci-fi drama Sense8.
Last month, it was reported that actor Aml Ameen, who played Capheus “Van Damme” on the hit Netflix sci-fi series, had dropped out of the show due to ‘creative differences’ with producer Lilly Wachowski.
The actor was subsequently replaced by Toby Onwumere.
Now, Lilly Wachowski, who came out as transgender in March, has reportedly dropped out of the show’s second season according to a Buzzfeed interview with Sense8 star, Jamie Clayton.
Clayton, who plays a transgender ‘sensate’ blogger on the show, reveals that “Lilly needed to take some time off.”
Sense8 follows a ‘cluster’ of eight people around the globe who discover they are emotionally and mentally linked with one another.
Lana Wachowski is now responsible as the sole director for the show and the sisters, who have previously directed films such as The Matrix and Jupiter Ascending, have never directed a film or show apart.
“Lana is absolutely a superwoman,” Clayton says.
“The way she channels her energy and creativity… it keeps me in absolute awe whenever I’m in her presence. She’s an absolute force.”
Clayton’s co-stars agreed and all praised the director. Brian J. Smith, who plays Chicago cop Will, said, “She works long days, six days a week, and then travels with us, but is on the plane writing and rewriting. I want more people to understand the scale of what someone’s creative energy and their drive to tell a story can accomplish. It’s incredible.”
Clayton also addressed the news of Ameen’s departure and explained that everything was fine.
“I knew the fans would be concerned, but I wanted them to know that we were OK,” Clayton said.
Tuppence Middleton, who plays Icelandic DJ Riley, said, “It’s just a case of, creatively, two people having a really different idea of what they want to do.”
“I think the most important thing is that Capheus’ storyline lives. He’s a great character, and it would be a real shame to have that go away.”
The actors of the Netflix series have explained that they welcomed Toby Onwumere to the family with open arms and revealed that the season season will feature more sex and more violence!
Frankly, we REALLY can’t wait to see what’s going on here:
Whatever’s going on behind the scene’s we hope it doesn’t affect the release of the second season too much – we need more of these crazy orgy sex scenes, natch.
