Lindsay Lohan to make stage debut in West End this autumn
By Nick Levine
Lindsay Lohan is to make her stage debut in London’s West End this autumn.
The 27-year-old actress will star in a revival of David Mamet’s satirical play Speed-the-Plow at the Playhouse Theatre from September 24 to November 29.
Lohan will portray the play’s female lead, Karen, a role originated by Madonna in the 1988 Broadway production of Speed-the-Plow. Karen has since been played on stage by actresses including Elisabeth Moss and Alicia Silverstone.
The play’s plot is described as follows:
“When a hugely bankable star agrees to appear in a sure-fire commercial hit, film producers Bobby Gould and Charlie Fox are convinced this is the break of a lifetime. That is until Karen (played by Lindsay Lohan), a temporary secretary, derails the dream. When she persuades Bobby to dump the blockbuster in favour of a story which can only be described as box-office poison, Charlie is forced to resort to desperate measures…”
Lohan’s co-stars in the upcoming production have yet to be announced. The actress’s film credits include Mean Girls, Freaky Friday, The Parent Trap and A Prairie Home Companion and she has been seen more recently in her own US reality series, simply titled Lindsay.
