Little Mix are set to begin their new era with the release of new track ‘Break Up Song’ this Friday, the girls have revealed on social media.
Written by group members Jade, Perrie and Leigh-Anne, plus Kamille, Frank Nobel and Linus Nordstrom, the track is described as “an anthem for getting over a relationship, featuring an indelible melody and 80s synths”.
The announcement was accompanied by a gorgeously-retro short video showing Jade, Perrie, Leigh-Anne and Jesy serving face, with a teaser of the new track playing alongside.

Since forming on The X Factor in 2011, Perrie, Jesy, Leigh-Anne and Jade have had five successful albums, their last one being 2018’s LM5, which was the first following their split from Simon Cowell’s Syco label.
The lead single from LM5, Woman Like Me (featuring Nicki Minaj) won the group their second Brit, in the Best British Video category at the 2019 ceremony.
Last June, they released stand-alone single ‘Bounce Back’, which peaked at number 10 in the charts. A Christmas single, ‘One I’ve Been Missing’ failed to make an impact.
It’s unclear whether ‘Break Up Song’ is from a forthcoming album or not – the girls are also set to launch a new TV series for BBC One called Little Mix: The Search, where they’ll be hoping to form and mentor bands that will be able to replicate their success.
The series is set to air next month, with a UK summer tour scheduled for June and July, including a headline show at Hyde Park’s British Summertime festival. Whether those dates take place given the ongoing coronavirus pandemic remains to be seen, however.
