Little Mix’s greatest ever gay moments

In 2020, pop stars saying they love their gay fans is no rare thing – and rightly so.
But a global pop band with a young fanbase consistently incorporating LGBT themes in their work and using their platform to promote love, acceptance and gay equality? Well, that’s still slightly rarer.
Since bursting onto the scene in 2011, Little Mix have flown the flag for their LGBT fans like no one else, fully earning their place as the winners of the Honorary Gay Award at the Attitude Awards in 2018, where they promised to “always, always” stick by the LGBT community.
Jesy, Jade, Perrie and Leigh-Anne have proved time and time again that they take their position as LGBT allies seriously – and as they prepare to embark on a brand new era with fifth studio album LM5 next month, we present to you Little Mix’s great ever gay moments…
When they declared that 2016’s ‘Secret Love Song’ was an anthem for LGBT fans struggling to be themselves:
When they later dedicated it to the 49 victims of the Orlando Pulse massacre during their Glory Days Tour:
When Jade told a homophobe in no uncertain terms to get the f**k off her Instagram:
“If you don’t ‘support’ these kind of ‘things’ (assuming you mean drag queens or the gay community) then I suggest you go and comment on somebody else’s Instagram”, she wrote.
“Someone just as homophobic, ignorant and as warped as yourself. SASHAY. AWAY.”
When they helped a fan propose to his boyfriend mid-way through their set at London’s O2 Arena last year:
And made sure to publicly celebrate any other ones too:
When the video for the group’s collaboration with Cheat Codes, ‘Only You’, gave lesbian mermaids their long overdue moment in the spotlight:
Also, they’re literally helping people to come out:
When Jade marched at Manchester Pride after spending the day with LGBTQ youth in the city:
She later wrote: “Yesterday was one of the best and most inspiring days of my life. Marching side by side at @manchesterpride with these INCREDIBLE young people with @stonewalluk is a memory I will cherish forever.
“Let us never stop fighting for equality.”
