‘Looking’ movie premiere date revealed
When we said goodbye to Patrick and his friends at the end of the season 2 of Looking, we were promised a movie to end the life of the show.
And the good people of Looking have delivered on their promise, with Patrick, Kevin and co.’s final swansong set to premiere June 26 at San Francisco’s Frameline Film Festival.
It’s a fitting setting for our final look at the San Fran gang, and while the finer points of the plot are being kept under wraps, producers have promised that the film, which was written by the show’s creator Michael Lannan and comes in at 86-minutes long, will provide viewers with some real closure.
Meanwhile, show star Russell Tovey confirmed after his initial read of the script and that “lucky” viewers were in for a treat – while Jonathan Groff recently revealed exactly what sex acts he’s been filming for the finale.
HBO president Michael Lombardo previously admitted the decision to axe Looking at the conclusion of season 2 last year “very painful” for him on “a personal level”.
He explained: “I thought the show, creatively, was really doing something that I hadn’t seen on any other show, particularly dealing with gay lives.
“As a gay man, in particular, I was very proud that there was a show that felt like it was dealing very honestly and openly with gay men and their lives, without putting them into a comedic mode.”
