Louis Walsh on X Factor future: ‘I don’t think I’ll be going back’

Louis Walsh has suggested that he will not return to The X Factor.
The Irish manager is the show’s longest-serving judge, having appeared on all eleven series of the ITV competition.
Speaking on Ireland’s The Seven O’Clock Show, Walsh said: “I’m done with X Factor, honestly. I’ve done 11 seasons and that’s a long time in television – I don’t think I’ll be going back.”
He continued: “I want to go back to being a manager. That’s my day job and I’ve neglected it for a long time because I’m away so much.
“At the moment, I’m working with Shane Filan – he’s got a new record coming out, and I’m also working with Hometown.”
He previously managed boybands including Boyzone and Westlife, and admitted that becoming a TV judge had never been his intention: “I’d like to get back to where I started off… I never even wanted to be on TV, it just happened.”
Asked if his mind could be changed by Simon Cowell, Walsh admitted: “I’d have to really think about it.”
Following on from Dermot O’Leary’s exit, he added that he does not know if Cheryl Fernandez-Versini or Mel B will return, adding that he expects “new faces” on the panel.
