‘Love is Strange’: Watch Alfred Molina in exclusive new clip

By Will Stroude

Alfred Molina and John Lithgow’s Love is Strange finally hits UK cinemas in two weeks time (February 13), and we’re excited to exclusively reveal one of the most moving scenes from the critically-acclaimed drama here on attitude.co.uk.

Lithgow (Interstellar) and Molina (The Normal Heart) star as Ben and George, a New York couple who finally tie the knot after four decades together.

However, their relationship is suddenly put to the test when the wedding results in George being fired from his job as a teacher, and the couple are forced to live apart with their friends and family.

The film – which opened to rave reviews when it was screened at Sundance and Berlin film festivals last year – also stars Marisa Tomei (What Women Want), Charlie Tahan (Frankenweenie) and former Attitude cover star Cheyenne Jackson (Glee, 30 Rock) – take a look at trailer in full here.

Watch the exclusive scene – in which Molina’s character George pens a letter to parents at his former school – below:

We chat to Molina in the new issue of Attitude, where the Hollywood legend tells us: “…The story’s not really a gay movie, it’s a love story.”

He adds: “A film that would set out to be didactic about gay culture or gay politics would be limiting in terms of just how much story you could tell. I think the power of the film is that it’s about love. Regardless of whether it’s gay or straight.

“At the same time, if this film makes any kind of contribution to the social debate that’s going on, that can’t be a bad thing.”

You can read the full interview with Alfred in the new issue of Attitude – the Naked Issue – which is available to download to your mobile, iPad or tablet device now, at Pocketmags.com/Attitude.

Over 30 guys – including former TOWIE star Charlie King, Blue hunk Duncan James, Eastenders’ Davood Ghadami and Apprentice stars James Hill and Sanjay Sood-Smith – have stripped off over almost 100 pages as part of our #getnakedbesafe safe sex campaign, and you can take a peek at what they’ve got in store for you with our exclusive teaser video.

We also speak to Newsnight and Dragon’s Den host Evan Davies in his first ever gay press interview, where he discusses the state of British politics ahead of May’s general election and being one of the most prominent gay men on TV.

The issue will be out in shops next Wednesday (February 4) and you can also have it delivered directly to your door at newsstand.co.uk.
