Madonna has released a powerful video for her latest single ‘God Control’.
The pop legend has never been afraid to use her platform to raise awareness of an important issue whether that be the LGBTQ community and the Aids crisis.
And now, in her latest single, Madonna has turned her focus to gun control and crime and in the opening scenes of her new powerful music video, it reads: “The story you are about to be see is very disturbing.
“It shows graphic scenes of gun violence. But it’s happening every day. And it has to stop.”
We then see images of gun violence inside a nightclub – with people connecting it to the shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando – juxtaposed with images of Madonna sat at a typewriter writing the powerful lyrics to her song.
Watch the video below:
Speaking about the single Madonna said: “I want to draw attention through my platform as an artist to a problem in America that is out of control and is taking the lives of innocent people.
“This crisis can end if our legislators act to change the laws that fail to protect us all.”
The video ends with a call-to-action to join Madonna in supporting organisations fighting for common-sense gun safety legislation and working to protect the most vulnerable, including:
